Fashion Friday

May 23, 2008

I really have no right to even be entertaining the idea of buying clothes since I got my fair share for my birthday, but it’s hard to resist. Right now I like:

These tie-neck shirts from Old Navy. I don’t know if I could pull them off, but I want to wear them so I can feel like Mary Tyler Moore. And since I was singing, “Who can turn the world on with her smile?” in the bathroom this morning, I think my inner Mary is telling me to go for it.

I’m a little embarassed to admit that this dress is from J.Jill. I saw an ad for it in Real Simple and had to take a peek at it online. Even though I don’t fall into their “stylish, soccer mom, still hip even though your 40″ market, I still would wear this dress. Oh man, I wonder if I’m going to start liking Eddie Bauer and Chicos. I hope I didn’t just offend anyone. There’s nothing wrong with these stores, it’s just that I’m only 23 and I should live it up while I can.

NEWS FLASH! You can shop at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Piperlime online and ship it in the same order! Thanks David A! (I’m going to start attributing good things to David A and bad things to David C.)

More bikes for your viewing pleasure

These pictures are brightening my somewhat sullen day. Usually Thursdays are good but David Cook winning kind of ruined it for me. Seriously people, do we really need another Nickelback, the worst band on the face of the planet? I’m making it sound like I care way more than I actually do. I’m cooler than that, believe me. I’ve just decided I’m going to start blaming everything on David Cook because it feels good.

I told you maps were my fave, and I meant it

(the last one has ‘hello’ written in all of the different languages)

After seeing the maps designed by Zsuzsana Ilijin I’m basically speechless. I could go on and on about how cool I think they are but I think they pretty much talk for themselves.

You must check-out/buy/borrow this cookbook. Even if it causes you to gain 10 pounds, it’s worth it.

An interesting sidenote- the orginal title of this cookbook was, A Look at the Daily Diet of Melanie Blodgett, but the editors didn’t think it was catchy enough.

Bikes are my fave

I can’t wait to ride my spruced up bike this weekend. These Etsy finds get me even more pumped so right now I’m doing a Sally Jesse Raphael raise the roof. That’s right, I’m raising the roof. And now I’ve lost all my readership because your embarassment level for me has reached an all time high.

I’m the winner!

May 20, 2008

Guess what I won on Ebay yesterday!?

And the best part is, IT LIGHTS UP!

I think this deserves a woot woot and some power fisting action.

Three Wishes

If a genie magically appeared right now I would wish:
1. That H&M had an online store
2. That I could teleport myself to anywhere in the world and take people with me
3. That I could be at the National Stationary Show right now- because all of the blog posts covering it are making me super jealous.

I guess if #2 came true I wouldn’t have to worry about the other ones.

My new career

I’ve dreamed of being many things in my life: a makeup artist, a journalist, a magazine editor, a wedding planner, an owner of a breakfast restaurant, a nurse that just holds the babies in the hospital, anything with the Oprah show. My current dream job is a prop stylist. My dad will once again probably be disappointed in this revelation but trust me, after looking at the work of Kendra Smoot, Scott Horne and Rebecca Thuss, you’ll want to be a prop stylist too.

Bag crush

May 19, 2008

I was wishing I had a sewing machine so I could whip myself up something similar to this ruffled tote. Then I remembered how I sewed the two sides of my tote bag together in Home Ec and I’m thinking maybe I can trick my mom into making me one instead.

Clever cards are my fave

I’m so glad that I found these cards. I was having a hard time deciding what to do with my tax refund. Problem solved.
