A Thanksgiving that sounds like a Hallmark channel made for TV movie is my fave

November 24, 2008

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. This may seem a little odd since I’m a girl who thrives on presents (giving and getting) and there are no gift exchanges at Thanksgiving, but let me explain. Once a year on this magical holiday my mom’s family descends on the little town of Franklin, Idaho (population 716). My grandma lives on an egg farm. The egg farm on Napoleon Dynamite to be exact. No, I am not making this up. The usual Thanksgiving fare abounds – good food, family, football- but the most magical part of my family’s Thanksgiving is the plethora of pies. No less then 30. Pumpkin is the most boring one there. The day beforehand a pie assembly line forms in the kitchen and my grandma cranks out the pie crusts with her trusty bucket of lard at her side. For real. Now, don’t you want to be part of my family? We are currently accepting applications.

you’ll have to post about your favourite one this year. Even though pumpkin may be the most boring, I must say that pumpkin chiffon pie you made last year is the only pumpkin pie I have ever liked. It was good!

I wasn’t sure about joining the family until the mention of lard. That seals it! I’m in! lol

Mel, I am so excited to have Thanksgiving at my house this year… but I think I am going a bit overboard. I just realized that I made 3 home-made pies and a dozen of cookies for a total of 4 people. What was I thinking!!! Since i am the official president of the Bellessa fan club, I win! yep, I win~

I hope you had a good day with all your pie eating ;D Also, that picture made me laugh, what’s with the girl in the yellow t-shirt? She looks like she’s REALLY annoyed.
