Summer parties are my fave

My friend Natalia and I are both itching to throw a summer party. I’ve nominated myself as her party planning committee co-chair since she has the space to invite lots of chums and she always has the very best ideas and she always executes them brilliantly. So far we’ve been thinking we need to have an un-birthday party, a brunch picnic, a photobooth extravaganza and a backyard movie night. I’m thinking to make the movie night complete we could use director’s clipboards for invites and have a concession booth of real popcorn, popcorn cupcakes, soda and big boxes of candy.

Do you have any good ideas for a summertime party? Please share.

    My suggestions isn't very guy-appealing but could fun to throw for some girlfriends. I've been wanting to throw an afternoon tea party complete with finger sandwiches, petit fours, floral prints. I love anything super girly like that.

    We've had Marie Antoinette girl's nights with tiny pastries and champagne and girly dresses. Guillotines optional. And my fave for the summer are clambakes — preferrably al fresco! The Barefoot Contessa has a great recipe.

    This looks like so much fun! I would just settle for being able to be outside for more than 10 minutes without at jacket at this point. The weather here has been horrendous. I can't wait to have a backyard BBQ!

    i just got back from a thai cooking party and OH MY GOODNESS was it good! we had a local thai lady throw down for us and share her recipes… some bottles of white wine, white plates, and chopsticks, sunshine, and we were a kitchen full of happy and full peeps…

    All of your ideas sound AMAZING. I know at my dad's office he's allowed to "rent out" a business projector on the weekends, so maybe you could see if you or someone else in your group of friends has access to something like that, hang a big old white sheet up somewhere, and project it on there? It's worked really well for movie nights in my neighborhood, and then you all won't have to crowd around a small TV.

    Love these bits of inspiration! Last year I threw an outdoor movie party and we had so much fun. Besides, sending everyone into diabolic shock from the sugar intake was half the excitement!
