I love the idea of converting a backyard shed into a little guest house or library. My grandma converted an old chicken coop into her guest house. I guess you work with what you got.

*Sigh* yes please. Except I'd also like to build a pool and make it a pool house … totally possible summer project, right?

In Argentina, where my father is from and where a lot of my family lives, everyone has a separate eating room in the backyard. They have a kitchen inside their house but then they also have a "quincho" out back where they have another kitchen, a huge table and sometimes a built in bbq. my grandmother's is enormous. She has sliding glass doors so you can feel like you're eating outside in summer and heating so you can eat comfortable in the winter. I think it's the best thing ever…I want one so much…but I don't think that it will fit on my outdoor space in NYC:)

    these are great finds!

I like the one with the black trimmed tent. It's so classy.

When I was young, my house, pre-renovation, had a backyard between one of these small houses and the main one. It was such fun running under the laundry!

Oh these photos make me jealous. I have always wanted a tree house or a retreat like these, but I'm afraid my dog would probably eat it, just like he eats everything else in the yard :P

To turn a backyard shed into a library would be a dream for me. I'd never thought to do something like that. I'll definitely have to remember this when I'm finally living in a house of my own!

the second one down looks like a see's candy shop! that wouldn't be such a terrible thing to put in your backyard.

Some of my relatives own quite a bit of land behind their house and bought a bunch of old chicken coops and sheds to use as guest houses. They're amazingly gorgeous now that they've been renovated.
