Learning how to make paper cranes is my fave

June 23, 2009

After several failed attempts of trying to make a paper crane I quickly turned to Etsy to see if someone else could just make them for me. In my search I found some other origami goodies that I want to snatch up like:

a cute jar chock full of little cranes,

a hand carved stamp

a colorful mobile

and letterpress pretties

Luckily I ended up finding a great tutorial and whipping out quite a few cranes so I didn’t have to spend money on another failed craft project. Heaven knows how many times that’s happened.

I really love paper cranes–and origami art in general! It seems like a great way to keep your hands busy while doing other things (watching America's Next Top Model marathons, ahem). Thanks for the tutorial!

Love the jar full! It would be cute tucked in a bookshelf to add some color.

That jar full of baby cranes is such a brilliant idea! So simple but oh so cute. Love the stamp as well. I recently started folding a bunch of paper cranes as well. I'm trying to make 1000 and then turn it into a giant mobile.

I love the jar too! I actually made a bunch of paper cranes last winter (while watching seasons of Northern Exposure on dvd, lol!). They were hanging as a garland for a long time, but they are getting dusty and I've been looking for a new use for them! I found it very relaxing to fold them, and have a ton more paper :)

I love paper cranes. there was a project that a photographer did a couple of years ago where she sent anyone who wanted to participate a paper crane and the person had to take a photo of the crane and then send it on to someone else. it was the coolest thing. she compiled a book of all the images (I think)…so peaceful and simple.

I love paper cranes. One Christmas I made paper crane place markers from Readymade Magazine. The cranes were made out of festive wrapping paper and hanging from twigs in tiny glass bottles. They're not hard to master after a few tries.
