Huh, I never thought about that. Good observation though. I think there would be a lot of red, white, and blue at that party!

Ha. Ha. Probably not. I think the only reason Americans do that is because of the whole melting pot thing.
But, if they threw an American party I think it should be more centered around 4th of July theme with lots of red, white and blue, grilling, and a backyard game. hmmm… American traditions are so different and diverse depending on the community you were grew up and with which culture… hmm…

In London sometimes they'll do an american Thanksgiving. They sell the makings for turkey day (like pumpkin pie and such) so that the english can recreate a good ol' american thanksgiving…but…that's the only thing i can think of

That's so funny, I was just talking about this over brunch with girlfriends! One of the ladies was saying her husband had to bring a dish from his culture and being from texas he brought mac and cheese from the box and wonder bread. Funny as heck but sorta sad!

"More then jazz, or musical theater, or morbid obesity, television is the true American art form."
An American party probably involves hot dogs and watching television. Maybe fireworks.

Yes, since living in Europe I've been to a few American themed parties. And no, they didn't involve watching tv. Not everyone thinks we're stupid.

We held my husband's work party at our house this year and one of his employees is from China, he commented on how he liked our "American Family Christmas theme." I had to laugh and thought how I'd completely done it unintentionally:)

My housemates and I (in New Zealand) threw an Americana party a year or so ago. I dressed as the statue of liberty.
There was cowboys & girls, mexicans, paris hiltons, evangelists, american musicians, elvis, dog the bounty hunter, lots of 1950s teenagers, army dudes, and richard nixon. Haha! -
