Irene Suchocki’s polaroid prints have recently been added to my list of favorite things. When you hear the words favorite and things together do you always think of the Sound of Music? I never understood why sometimes that song is on Christmas CDs. It’s Fraeulien Maria people.
I’m guest posting the details of this birthday in a box over at Pink Cupcake Vintage today.
And the winner of the Much Love Illy giveaway is tvmom. Congrats!
For those of you who don’t really understand the blogging world (mom, thanks for always reading) you’ll probably think this next statement is really weird and maybe even a little crazy. I have a really great friend I’ve never met. We connected over the Olympics a couple years ago and have been emailing ever since. She’s always good for a TV show quote and for hilarious real life Liz Lemon moments. And she always reassures me I’m awesome when I need it most. Her name is Karen and that is my little ode to her. Karen, you’re the best. Here is the spring bridal shower inspiration I promised for you. I’m thinking simple cloth perched over the tables, dishcloth placemats, pails of flowers, little party poppers at each seat, floral ice blocks and little paper bags of strawberries for favors. What do you think?
What’s your excited move? Like when I get really excited I start clapping, giggling or marching around with exaggerated arm movements. Sometimes there’s leg kicks involved. All of that occurred when I came across the fabrics in the Etsy shop Felicitysiu. And I don’t even sew. Ask my seventh grade life skills teacher.
This post is four years too late. Actually, make that about fifty years late. I recently finished the delightful autobiography of Julia Child, My Life in France. I think I’ve now joined the ranks of bloggers who long to live in Paris. Julia convinced me. She also convinced me to have more spunk, to enjoy cooking, to journal more (man she has a memory) and to send cooky Valentines. Tell me, did you not fall in love with her after reading this book? And Paul too?
“The sweetness and generosity and politeness and gentleness and humanity of the French had shown me how lovely life can be if one takes time to be friendly.”
PS Find out how this blog got its name on Mrs. Potts.
This S&H is decidedly springy today and so is my picnic party how-to on The Little Things We Do today. Although I’m not quite sure what time of day it will be posted. It could be right now, are you willing to risk it and click on over? Do it. Do it. Do it. I’m chanting.
Okay, it’s up.

Remember this polaroid from our sunny trip? The oh so talented Cathie was inspired by it and asked me if she could paint it. Amazing right? It’s available for purchase in her Etsy shop Magic Markings Art which is filled with other beautiful beach inspired paintings as well. Thanks Cathie.
After this I may get a little cocky and quit my day job to be a muse. Anybody interested? I could be a permanent fixture in your home causing inspiration to just flow from your mind. I’m really quite good.
I’m posting these two cottages together because they both fall into the “insanely gorgeous, cozy and soothing house by the sea, I would give my right arm a leg and possibly my left eyebrow to live in one of these” categories. I think my favorite part is the bedrooms in both homes.
Chello Friday. Chello rad giveaway time.
The sweet Ilene (judging from our correspondence she would be one of those strangers you meet on the street who smiles, says good morning and pays you a compliment) makes beautiful headbands, rings and accessories and sells them in her Etsy shop Much Love Illy. I think any of the items would become the happiest spring pop for anybody’s wardrobe.
So here’s the giveaway part, one luckster will win one headband and one accessory of their choosing. Just lovely, no? To enter please leave a comment on this post indicating which item you love most in Ilene’s shop. Please leave your comment by next Thursday night, April 15th. Winner will be announced on Friday.
And for any ‘You Are My Fave’ reader, Ilene is offering a 10% discount off your order (before shipping costs). You just have to indicate in the message to seller that you are a ‘YAMF’ reader (the discount will be sent as a payment to you via Paypal).
