I’m sure the topic of the tragedy that was last night’s finale has been hashed and rehashed too many times to count but what kind of fan am I if I don’t throw in my two cents? And my two cents is this: if midriffs, crocheted booty shorts and wearing glossy jackets without anything underneath is fashion forward, the 2000 teens are looking mighty ugly. I have nothing against Gretchen but I would feel better about her victory if I had even remotely liked her collection. I sort of liked one dress. That’s it. I just don’t understand.
Mondo of course was gracious and held it together as he watched the results in a room with 500 other people, several sporting mustaches and shorts in his honor. He’s such a champ. Was anybody else kind of obsessed with his use of the bright skinny belt?
Love Mondo as much as I do? Gabby shared some great photos and a video of the party last night.
It’s no surprise that I love these origami garlands from Etsy shop Jikits. You could hang some stuffed squirrels on a string and I would like it.
The mobile homes mobile is quite genius too.
Christine Schmidt of Yellow Owl Workshop shares how to make your own handprinted goods (with templates!) over at Sunset. I love the painted look and her pretty handwriting. I’m going to start calling all my parties fetes so people think I’m fancy.
I just had to quickly share photos of Alicia, Ryan and Lucas’s homecoming. Don’t you love the crowd of adoring fans? I’m so sad I couldn’t be there.
Thank you to everyone for your sweet comments about the adoption and for reaching out to my sister. Lucas is so loved.
The shelves on our particle board bookcases are sinking in the middle and they’re trembling just thinking about how many more books I want to add to them.

I love seeing my favorite creatives moving their way into print. Isn’t Crafts for Poor People the best subtitle ever? Amy Sedaris is my kind of quirky.

I love unique living spaces like this pyramid penthouse atop Seattle’s Smith Tower. If you climb up that set of twisty steps, you land in a glass globe with views of the entire city. Wouldn’t it be magical to lounge in there during a meteor shower or rain storm?
I love these photos of the San Francisco Ferry Building farmers market taken by Jacqueline. They make me want to soak in the little last bit of outdoor market season. Just this week there’s been a feeling of change in the air. It make my stomach jump a little thinking of all the good things that have been happening and all I’m looking forward to. Yesterday I exclaimed, “I love my life!” and it felt so good. I hope you’re feeling the same way and have a blissful weekend. And please do stick around for things to come. This change I speak of pertains to this blog too.
To welcome their neighbors to their London pop-up shop, the folks at Kate Spade traveled the streets with bouquets of red balloons. What a happy sight. I feel like it’s a beckoning call to design bloggers.
See photos of the amazing shop here. I love the striped steps!
I hope you’ll excuse me for getting a bit personal today, something I don’t do often on this blog. My heart has been overwhelmed with the joy and my mind hopelessly preoccupied for the last week. I’m so happy to announce the arrival of my new nephew, Lucas Alexander. My entire family has been anxiously awaiting his arrival and holding our breath through the adoption process which is now complete. We’ve all been so emotionally invested. One of my sisters commented, “I wonder how long it will take before I can talk about it without crying.” That’s how I feel. I’m so grateful for the beautiful birth mother and father who unselfishly made the decision to place little Lucas with Ryan and Alicia. Adoption is my fave. My family is my fave. And baby Lucas is absolutely my fave.
Doesn’t it look like he’s smiling? He’s just so teeny tiny.
If you’re interested in hearing more of the adoption story, you can read about it on Ryan and Alicia’s blog.
