Friends, I’ve made the top five and now I need your help in voting for my table in the Dwell Studio Modern Thanksgiving contest. If I win, I will do a tutorial on how to do a celebratory dance in your living room.
Aren’t the photos pretty? My friend Katie is a great photographer.
To give to a friend or to give to yourself.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, have a nice one. We won’t be making the trek to the farm and will miss the table of pies but we’re happy that friends took pity on us and made room at the table.
Part two:
- the jolly good fellow
- cupcake toppers
- big balloons held down by party hat wearing animals
- whoopie pies
- homemade cake stands
- cranberry cheddar cheeseball
- stamped mini bags of caramel corn
- my beaming sister
I’m getting a little choked up writing this. I just got to spend three days with my family and even though I had to fight off my six-year-old niece to do it, most of the time was filled holding baby Lucas. He is the sweetest baby I’ve ever met and he was meant to be part of our family.
We celebrated his arrival and adoption with a shower on Saturday. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my sister and nieces (one of which took these amazing photos for me, she’s fourteen!). The theme was based off of Lucas’ nursery that is painted a pretty avocado green and decorated with animals. I really loved how everything came together, my favorite part being the mantle with the posters and animals with party hats. The pretty cluster of lanterns and Lokta paper mobiles may have come in a close second.
Come back tomorrow for part two. There may be a cheeseball involved.

I told you I had a surprise in store. It’s been a long time coming but my dazzling new site is live and I’m brimming with excitement. Natalia reworked my logo a bit and Christine made it all sparkle. Seriously, I talked to her for like 5 minutes, gave her a few images I liked and all of a sudden she delivered this fantastic design with possibly the cutest illustrations of all time. I think she may be a wizard.
We’re still working on changes for the blog but they should be up soon. I feel like I’m on What Not To Wear and the big reveal just happened but I still have one sassy outfit to show you. Hooray!
I know this is a tad late. I’m meeting Baby Lucas tomorrow and that has proved to be very distracting.
Seeking: an intern to craft hundreds of white paper flowers with me.
Payment: a dance movie marathon and chocolate chip cookies.
Benefits: How come you’re still fishing after I’ve already told you you’ll have a private Step Up viewing party with me?
Light comes from two sources in our cruddy apartment: a pair of cheap floor lamps from Target with random falling off parts and some horrendous 80′s rectangle on out kitchen ceiling. In the future I would love to own something that didn’t disgrace the light fixture name. These woven wooden beauties from Sarah Foote would fit the bill. My favorite is the hydrangea lamp. I love how striking it is against the slate backdrop.

Oh, and about the surprise, there have been some unexpected glitches. Sorry to the two people who cared. I’m working on it.
