I think I need to make a habit of ending each blog week with a burst of color. These pretty abstract oil paintings from Yangyang Pan definitely fit the bill. Love them as much as I do? You can find prints in her Etsy shop.
Go out to breakfast this weekend, you deserve it friends.

I love getting a peek at studio spaces of creative folks. When they have a fantastic space it makes me think, “No wonder they’re always creating goodness, they’re surrounded by beauty.” I, on the other hand, am surrounded by ugly blinds, off white and clutter. I need to surround myself with beauty more often. I think only good could come from it.

These color sets from Present and Correct would make a nice addition to my pile of awesome things I buy but have no use for. I’m sure the hologram happy birthday glasses would welcome them with open arms.
Also, this book of pockets and bike light chart are pile worthy. I mean that as a compliment.

I’ve always liked the look of a simple fresh wreath but was always too intimidated to try it out for myself. Turns out, it’s really easy. Start with a simple wreath form, attach fresh greens and flowers with floral wire and you’re golden. I’m thinking of making a series to freshen up the infamous half wall.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this week of spring ideas on YAMF. Have a joyful Easter weekend.

I loved the glass bottle packaging of these candies from Selfridges (via Alli) and thought the idea would be perfect for a party favor. I simply repurposed some Frappuccino bottles, spray painted the lids, and used some stickers from the Martha Stewart line as labels. Just be aware, if you buy the candy too far ahead of time, don’t open the package. You’ll find yourself having to strategically reposition the candy so the bottles look full.

I’ve felt so defeated lately. Just when I didn’t think things could get much worse, the doctor uttered these words to me last week, “Please stop eating chocolate,” (I don’t remember if she actually said please but I’d like to believe she at least broke the news politely).
For most people this wouldn’t be that big of a deal but I eat chocolate EVERY SINGLE DAY, even if it’s just a handful of chocolate chips. To stop myself from completely caving, I made a non-chocolate dessert on Sunday and thought it would fit right in for a spring party because it’s light, berry-y and easy to make pretty. In my family, we call it berries on a cloud, but the technical term is pavlova. Martha has a lot of variations that you can find here. If you decide to make it, please promise me you’ll go with a chocolate variety, in the memory of all that is good and now is forbidden. Thank you.

My plan was to grow wheat grass but the dang stuff didn’t grow fast enough. I’m pretty happy with the clustered white flower alternative though. Also, I’d really appreciate it if someone bought me a steamer for my birthday. I ironed that tablecloth for a half an hour and it’s still wrinkly.

All this week I’ll be sharing some simple ideas for a spring party because the long months of winter are over and gosh dang it, I want to celebrate.
To make your own flower cones, take a six inch square of card stock and cover it with fabric. Then shape it into a cone and adhere with hot glue, making sure to leave a slot open for a small piece of paper to fit through. Hand write or type up a simple invitation with the right end of the tab saying pull me! This instruction MUST be ended with an exclamation mark or your invitees won’t sense the urgency and they might forget to pull. Fill with some blooms and hang from doorknobs with twine. In your face winter.

Sarah designed this baby matrix where guests of the baby shower placed stickers to correspond with their guess if the baby would be a boy or girl and which parent he/she would most look like. Genius, right? So much better than any other baby shower game I’ve ever seen.
