one month is my fave

May 25, 2012

buddy
On Monday Beck turned one month old. To say time has moved quickly is an understatement and to be honest, it’s been a bit of a blur. So to help me visually keep track of his rapid growth, I’ve decided to take monthly photos on the same blanket and detail a few of his stats and traits.

This little guy has been gaining weight like a champ but if you take a look at his scrawny limbs you might think it’s all going to his head. He’s got a cry as loud as a siren but only let’s that be known when he’s tired or hungry. Otherwise he’s perfectly content just opening his eyes wide and staring at his surroundings while flailing about. We’re so happy and blessed.

How did/are you keeping track of your baby’s growth? Here are some other cute monthly baby photos I thought you might like:
- Headshots with fabric letters
- 12 months, same chair
- Resting on daddy’s arm
- Colorful patterned fabric backdrops
- Playing dress-up (this one is elaborate but hilarious)

This post is sponsored by Disney Baby. I’ll be joining the Disney Baby blogging team next month, and look forward to sharing these kinds of stories (projects/ideas/etc) with you over there! Stay tuned for more details!

I used Nicole’s idea with my little guy and every month I took a picture of him in his rocker. I’m so glad I did – I too felt like the first couple months were a blur and those photos bring back lots of happy memories of when he was tiny. Happy one month, Beck!

oh so fun!! i want a little boy :)

with my girls i keep journals from the time i am pregnant and as they grow. i do it as soon as i find out the gender, and i continue to write everything-birth experience, funny things they say, firsts, hard things, testimony etc.

    what a fun little idea!

He’s growing so fast. What a sweetie.
With my daughter, I kept a journal of all the firsts and stats. With my son, I found journaling hard to squeeze in. My mom suggested I make a calendar, using pictures of each child, and I use it to record stats and firsts and stuff like quotes, trips, special days, anything important. The calendar is hung in the kitchen which makes it accessible. And then there is the added bonus of having the pics on it too.
    Happy weekend.

I honestly kinda like how you did it in this pic. I would keep doing it that way. That’s how I may end up doing it to be honest =)

I used a stuffed bunny I made my daughter. The first year I took weekly photos, the second year I took monthly photos. Now she’s 2 and I plan to include Bunny in her birthday photos for as long as she’ll let me! I couldn’t get it together to make her a baby book but she does have a blog where family and friends can keep up with her growing up.

What an adorable little guy! I love how you’re documenting his growth. I wish I had done the same thing with my little boy right after he was born. But I suppose 6 months old isn’t too late to start!

    Happy 1 month, Beck!

He’s absolutely adorable! And I keep your idea in mind to track the babys’ growing monthly – although my little one won’t arrive until November, in this few weeks of pregnancy I already learned that it’s never to early to plan something that’s really important to you, otherwise you’ll miss it. Thanks!

So cute! Yes, the first few months are a bit of a blur. Once he starts sleeping more at night, it’ll get better. I found that taking photos was a really good way to keep track of the changes and to remember only the good and sweet things.

I used to make my daughter wear new clothes every Thursday and send her photos along with a newsy mail to the close relatives as an update to what she was doing. Why Thursday? and why new clothes? It’s just a fun myth we have, that if you wear something new on a thursday, you’ll get more new clothes! And really, new babies have all new clothes anyway, so it was easy to do. As she reached 9-12 months size, and I kept some things back for the thursdays, towards the end, she didn’t get to wear the clothes for long, but it was all worth it.

I’ve been planning to put all her Thursday photos in a book, but still haven’t got around to it. And she’s already 2 years old now! Yup, the time seems to be going really fast till now!

    Hi Melanie,

Congratulations to you! Beck is very adorable!

The dress up backgrounds theme is genius and so fun to look at. I also love the simplicity and fun nature of resting on daddy’s arm.

    Have a great weekend Melanie!

Congratulations! My son is 2 1/2 months and I’m also taking photos every month in the same clothes… so we can surprise ourselves on how fast he is growing. I took the idea from someone in Pinterest… really nice.
