Today’s post is from super crafter and cute mom, Amelia of The Homebook.
Sparklers! They’re the perfect summer party accessory, no? Bright and sparkly and exciting! But, also a total fire hazard indoors, and slightly dangerous, especially for children. Unless you make your own with materials that are perfectly harmless and won’t burn out. They’re ridiculously quick and easy to put together, and they’ll last the entire party. Better yet, you can wave and twirl them about without fear anyone’s hair catching fire. Because that’d be a major party fail, am I right? Here’s how to make them:
-large gold sparkle pom poms
-floral stem wire, cut to about 6 inches
-gold star confetti
-craft glue (I used good old Elmer’s)
Start by gently pulling out the tinsel part of your pom poms so that some tinsel strands are longer than others, until it begins to resemble a sparkler. Once you’re happy with the way it looks, poke a 6 inch piece of wire into your pom pom. Next, put a dab of glue onto a confetti star, and attach it to a single strand of tinsel (here’s where your tweezers will come in handy.) Repeat until you’ve glued 5 or 6 stars onto the pom pom. That’s it!
Now you’ve got sparklers that will last all night long! Those cupcakes, on the other hand…
