a kitchen makeover is my fave (the after)

February 4, 2014

Last week I shared the before photos of my friend’s kitchen that was in desperate need of a makeover. One thing I failed to mention is that budget was key in transforming the space. The kitchen is in good condition, everything is only a couple years old, and they weren’t ready for any major renovation. We relied on Valspar paint (Valspar Ocean Radiance for the wall, Valspar Feather Quill for the cabinets) and budget friendly tile to make everything look upgraded when really nothing was replaced. Behold, the after:

I think you’ll be floored to know that this was all done for under $200! Can you believe that?! It looks like an entirely different space.

Feeling motivated to spruce up a room in your house? Lucky for you Valspar is giving away four gallons of Feather Quill to one winner and four gallons of Ocean Radiance (the colors used in this project) to one winner. Simply comment on this post by eod Friday, February 7th stating where you would use the paint in your home. Happy painting!

Valspar is newly available at Ace Hardware stores and Valspar is currently rolling out their Ace paint collection nationwide. Valspar is confident that you’ll find the right paint color for you, but if you don’t like the first color you choose, you can have another on them. It’s all part of the Valspar Color GuaranteeI know from experience – the first color chosen for the wall was a mustard yellow that looked a little too curry in the space. With the Color Guarantee, we weren’t afraid to try another color.

I’ve already been dreaming of painting my very mid-2000 kitchen cabinets (warm stained wood cabinets with, like, Tuscan knobs – gross) and the walls (pea soup green!) to give it a fresh look. I love what a can of paint and a few hours can do to a space.

The tile is mini honeycomb from floor & decor. You can buy it online and it’s only $3 a SF! Our whole kitchen was under $100 for the tile (3 boxes)

I would definitely paint my kitchen. It is 1968 in full effect! I love how some elbow grease, paint, and few other items can transform a room. I am in the process of slowly updating my 1968 rambler and am starting a diy blog but right now my house is so shameful that I cannot publish my blog just yet. This paint would make my day and I would be able to share my post with the world and go live with my blog.
P.S. Love the kitchen update!!! What’s next on your remodel agenda?
