sunday treat tradition is my fave

cast iron skillet brownies

In an effort to actually try things I pin and because it always seems like I’m ravenous after church, I decided to start a little family tradition of making a treat every Sunday. I call it Sunday treat tradition and document it on Instagram (I figure it will be good documentation of all the calories I’ve consumed).

Beck is especially enthusiastic about the newly implemented tradition. He loves assisting and has actually gotten quite good at measuring and identifying all the ingredients. And he might have a future career in spoon licking, not to brag or anything.

brownies baked in cast iron skillet

After watching one too many episodes of Barefoot Contessa, I cleaned out my kitchen of tools that have seen better days (think hand-me-downs from my mom that are older than me) and a cast iron skillet was one of the first things I purchased. To test it out, we made this skillet brownie recipe from My Baking Addiction. And now I may never go back to box brownies again.

Doesn’t baking something in a skillet just seem more fancy? I feel like you could just plop it down in the middle of the table and guests would be wowed.

Join in the tradition and share by using the hashtag #sundaytreattradition so I can see what you’re baking. And if you have a recipe I must try, dish in the comment section please.

mother's day gifts

The formula for the best Mother’s Day gift (if a trip to Tulum isn’t in the cards):

A good read she can curl up in bed with (I recommend this book of inspiring interiors)
Photo prints of her favorite people (I love the look and quality of these prints from Artifact Uprising plus the modern way to display them)
Something to make her feel pretty (her favorite lipstick or tinted lip balm)
Something fresh (a pretty bouquet or a potted plant)
Something sweet (Fruute cookies have the best packaging)
Something to make her laugh (like this mini pennant)
