I hope you had a romantic week. Just so you know, I’m going to be taking a break from yamf next week. My growing girth and new house are requiring my attention plus I’m hoping to improve this space for you.

These images from the first in the Kinfolk dinner series make me wish a few things. First, that I had been there. Secondly, that my home cooking was good enough to solicit a knock off dinner party. And lastly, that the Kinfolk team’s next mission would be to come style my life.

For some reason I thought I would have our new house put together much more quickly than it’s actually coming. I think I forgot to factor in that I’d still have to work and that my pregnant state isn’t so much conducive to hefting boxes around and climbing on ladders.

My latest time sucking Google searches have been focused on wallpaper (yes, I’m putting it up in two small areas) and textiles and I keep on finding myself saying, “I just want something Josef Frank like without the price tag.” Completely fruitless I’m telling you. He just got it right.

In the US, you can buy Josef Frank fabrics and wallpaper for a pretty penny from Just Scandinavian.

valentine’s day in a box is my fave

If you’ve been a yamf reader for a while now, you know I can’t making theme packages as evident by my birthday in a box, guest welcome in a box and summer party in a box. So I’ve decided to start a new in the box series this year where I put together a fun array of things, box them up and share them with you. I’m already looking forward to summer Olympics in a box.

First up is Valentine’s Day of course with a mix of red and pink. To tell you the truth, I had a lot of these items already stashed in my craft/party supplies. And Ryan wonders why I need an entire walk in closet to store them.

Why stuff your valentine message in an envelope when you can broadcast it across your wall?

To make your own you’ll need:
- card stock
- scissors
- heart stamp + ink pad
- black marker
- washi (or other easily removable) tape

Cut about 100 strips of paper to appropriate size (I used my guillotine so it would go faster). Write out your message then stamp the rest of the strips with a heart. Line them up, stick them on then dance to this song.

When I said these ideas would be simple, I meant it. This one is as easy as a project as they come but it made Ryan say, “Wow! Is that my Valentine’s present?!” And the other day he was surprised to learn that Valentine’s Day is the same day every year. So it makes an impression. It would be fun to fill a closet or car too.

Sorry for the less than stellar pics. Taking photos of a shower is a lot more complicated than it seems.

Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, this week on YAMF will be dedicated to simple lovey ideas. This first one is super duper easy and would be a happy little surprise to a friend who doesn’t live near you.

First, buy a honeycomb heart from your local party store (Sweet Lulu has them too), tape it up so it doesn’t flap open, address, stamp and send that happy prize to someone you love. Simple but fun.

PS That’s not our real address so don’t send awesome stuff to it.
