a paper fan party backdrop is my fave (guest post from jenny)

June 13, 2012

I had a baby so I’ve invited some fave guests to take over for me while I spend time with the little guy. Today’s post is from the gold medalist of DIY party ideas, Jenny of Hank and Hunt.

I have a little party fun to share today with this paper fan backdrop. The best part? It only requires two supplies.

To make your own, you will need:
mini paper fans (you’ll need 7 – 8 packages to make this backdrop)
– tape

First, unfold and form all of the fans, securing with the attached adhesive strips. Start taping each row. Place each fan right next to the other and tape the string directly to the wall. If you have a delicate wall, attach fans to a dropcloth or large board. Start layering on the bottom and work up. Each additional row should be offset to form the scallop effect.

I ended up wanting more spontaneous color, I can never use just two, and randomly added some extra fans I had. After your event, store your fans in a box and decorate many fetes to come!

Easy and fun! How great would this be with FULL size fans?

You completed some fine points there. I did a search on the theme and found a good number of people will go along with with your blog.

Lovely idea. Can I suggest sticking them to the wall with masking tape, that should solve the problem of possibly damaging the wall. Thank you for a great idea.

[…] You Are My Fav suggests folding several paper pinwheels and fanning them out in coordinating or contrasting colours to create a beautifully textured backdrop. Consider choosing a few fans as random pops of colour that will contrast with your outfit or the rest of your staging. We love how this look automatically sets a tone that’s excited and cheerful.
