forty in a box is my fave (guest post from jane)

June 19, 2012

I have one last guest post for you today and it’s a goodie from the adorable Jane of See Jane Blog who sealed her bff status with this thoughtful gift.

I was packaging this last week at some absurd hour {because that’s when momma’s do such things.} I couldn’t help but think of Melanie and her talent with packing fun-themed boxes. incredible boxes. So, i thought I would share my not-so-little box of gifts on YAMF. I sent this box to a bestie last week celebrating her fortieth birthday. this bestie has lived through a lot with me – and before i get all kumbaya on you – i’ll just say – it was not going to be possible for me to be with her on her birthday. {ugly cry} When I realized this months ago, I started collecting gifts for her. The gifts are a mix of my favorite things all wrapped up + some things I thought she’d like. My current obsession with neutrals & color are on stage – adding up to forty in a box. I really enjoy planning, and giving gifts {especially homemade/personalized gifts} to those i love, and this little project was my favorite yet.

sources: colored wrapping paper, All brown kraft paper & gifts toppers from various craft stores, yarn balls are handmade, TAG candles.

Cheers!

Your friend is lucky to have you as a friend!

she must have felt so loved, Jane. It’s hard being away for special friends birthday’s so I’ve taken to sending celebratory presents too – birthday crowns, candles and confetti.

    absolutely love the packaging.
I did something similar for my parents. They had downsized, were in the process of unpacking boxes after moving. I had purchased a couple of cute holiday decorations, some candles, a tin of Mexican hot cocoa, some cute coasters (for their living room table), a holiday plate & some homemade cookies. It was Christmas in a BOX… which gave them a moment to relax while unpacking & brighten their new home without trying to find the box with their holiday decorations. It was FUN. My dad was in the mid-stage of Alzheimer’s, my mom was his care giver… my dad was so child-like when he called to thank me… they loved their tiny party & were able to escape the craziness of December.
