Today’s post is from my real life best friend and all around creative gal, Kelly of Cloudy Day Gray.
Portraits have always been a fave of mine. Two beautifully made portraits of my brothers hung in our house growing up. The only problem was there were five of us. Three boys and two girls. Investing in art can be tricky when growing a family is involved.
To make these portable, removable, and erasable chalkboard portraits you won’t need much money (less than 15 bucks) or time.
Step 1: Buy a few wooden boards and some chalkboard paint.
Step 2: Paint the boards. It took two coats – allowing one hour in between to dry.
Step 3: Wait 24 hours for the chalkboard paint to cure and then color the boards completely with chalk.
Step 4: Wipe off the base chalk and create simple portraits of your family members.
Step 5: I used velcro command strips to hang on my wall so that I could easily take them off and draw something new.
Step 6: Position them where you want and press for a few minutes. Enjoy!
